I am currently a master's student in History of Art at the University of Oxford.
I graduated from Yale University in 2023 with a B.A. in History of Art and an
Advanced Language Certificate in Chinese. My research interests are in premodern Chinese and Buddhist art.
In my free time, I am a painter with a penchant for landscapes, townscapes, and cityscapes.
I create portrayals of towns and cities that both document physical places, and compel the viewer to see familiar landmarks in new and painterly ways. Done primarily in acrylic paint in small-format, my paintings bring intimacy to views that are not necessarily small in scale. Yet with time, these places that seem grandiose become modest and personal. This intimacy takes form in the familiar sights of an everyday walking route as they change through the seasons, or the quiet and humble street corners that I look forward to passing by in the midst of a big city.
